Why you need to learn about agriculture.

The agricultural industry feeds the world!

When our country was founded everyone was involved in agriculture. They had gardens, cows, pigs and sheep even in town. Just about every family had a horse or two. Everyone grew up knowing where their food came from. Homes all had large pantries or root cellars filled with canned vegetables and cold packed meats. Wives had learned how to can vegetables and cold pack meats from their mothers and they taught their daughters.

Since the 1920's Men started leaving the farm to move into towns to work in factories. This has led to a slow but constant shift from country thinking to grocery store shopping. Wives in towns began shopping everyday or two for vegetables and meat. Even sixty years ago most people in the United States had lived on a farm or had grandparents who farmed. They still knew where and how their food was produced.

But today all has changed. Most children in the United states have never been on a farm. They don't the first thing about how their food is produced. It is sad that many city kids believe the milk they drink and the meat they eat is made in the back of the grocery store.

This is why you must learn about agriculture. You need to know! Knowing where your food comes from will allow you to confidence that your food is safe. You can avoid being influenced by the false information being spread by groups who trying to change the change agriculture.

There are many other reason why learning about agriculture is important.
